Flintridge offers scholarships to enhance the knowledge and skills of individuals working with nonprofit organizations serving Northwest Pasadena/Altadena or to help these organizations defray the costs of submitting a grant proposal to a foundation. Scholarship amounts typically range from $25 to $300, but never exceed $500. Scholarships may also be used for conference registration, workshops, reference books, advertising costs, and photocopying expenses for a grant proposal submission. Funds are limited, and once they are expended for the year, no further scholarships will be awarded. Applicants must be affiliated with a nonprofit organization.

The Pasadena Neighborhood Leadership Institute (PNLI) is a free, eight-week training program designed to develop emerging, locally-based leaders who can creatively address the issues and challenges confronting Pasadena's diverse neighborhoods. The interactive workshops may include informational interviews, field assignments, group exercises and short presentations. Participants will learn specific skills such as project planning and implementation, public speaking, how to run effective meetings, cross-cultural relations, and recruiting volunteers. A final team project will give participants the opportunity to practice what they've learned and make a positive contribution to the city and its neighborhoods. Initiated by Mayor Bill Bogaard to strengthen Pasadena communities, the program was created in partnership with Flintridge Foundation and Pasadena Foundation and is now administered by Neighborhood Connections and the PNLI Steering Committee. Flintridge continues to contribute funds and expertise to this important program. For more information, please contact Neighborhood Connections at 626/744-7290 or visit their website.
